Beatrix Ivy

I really needed some good news after this difficult week dominated by fire and then floods (more details soon). Today I got just the remedy to soothe my heartache: my first visit with my brand new baby niece, Beatrix Ivy. I spent at least an hour rocking her and sniffing her newborn baby head. She gave me a couple of good smiles and then fell asleep in my arms. Ahhh…

Miss Beatrix is my very first niece/nephew, and before her birth, I was kind of concerned that because I had my own kids, I wouldn’t be enthused to take on aunt duties, too. I needn’t have worried. After one visit, I totally fell for her. Now, I have my very on substitute baby to snuggle and spoil without the nighttime feedings and epic diaper changes. This might be even better that parenting my own infant.

My brother and sister in law live about an hour and a half drive away from me, so I won’t be able to just pop in to visit all the time, but my family and their friends are definitely planning a new-parent-relief rotation, so thankfully they’ll have help often.

This is my rockstar sister in law. She’s going to be such a good mom.

This is my older brother. He looked so tired but happy today.

…anyway, I just wanted to share this little piece of good news with y’all. Little Beatrix was definitely the bright spot in my week.

We were so sorry to read of the fire but loved seeing the sweet newborn photos here. A huge congrats to aunty Camille — you will be a natural.
