I’ve had a couple inquiries/comments about our rooster lately. Yes, his name is Toilet, and yeah, we think Toilet is a pretty awesome name for a rooster, too. Levi named him almost two years ago. I’m not entirely sure where our name-gifted son came up with “Toilet”, but we approved.
Toilet is a ‘black copper marans’ breed rooster. Henry bought him off of craigslist for $5. He’s a good protector of his flock, and apparently he’s quite fertile since he’s sired all our young layers and our latest batch of chicks. He’s also quite a good-looking fellow.

He’s so beautiful! or should I say handsome? I love chickens and would love to have some one day. So in the meantime I will live vicariously through yours.
Chickens are pretty easy and pretty fun to have around.
what a fancy rooster! can you use any of his tail feathers to make fishing lures? i too, like the name, for some reason.
We’re not exactly fly-fishing enthusiast, though we probably should be. I’d imagine those feathers would make good lures, but we’ve never tried ‘em.
Beautiful rooster!! And I love his name too!!
My niece, at one time, wanted to name her younger, yet-to-be-born sibling the charming moniker “Big Tub.” No one has ever discerned why.
Toilet works as well as any other.
I am so glad to have discovered this post. It solves a mystery on our farm.
Toilet is the spitting image of our rooster Dee Dee. I’ve never been able to figure out his breed (we bought him in a group of supposed pullets of another breed).
Now I know. A black copper marans.
Thanks!
