I spent most of the afternoon yesterday doing computer stuff for my Etsy shop at my parents’ house while my mom and dad babysat the kids. I wanted to write about my dad for Father’s Day, so I took a little break and went outside to see if I could get a decent photo of him. I found them camped out in the pea patch. I don’t think I could have caught them in a more quintessential “Camille’s dad” moment. My dad loves peas, and I love peas (They’re in the running for my favorite food of all time), and every year, my dad lovingly plants, trellises, and tends to his pea patch in the early spring and then harvests them at the start of summer.
Apparently my kids love peas, too. This is what I found at their feet.
Finally my dad decided that maybe they should save a few to cook for dinner. This prohibition was not taken well.
Levi needed his pea fix badly enough that my dad went down. My kids love their “Papa,” and we’re lucky enough to spend quite a bit of time with him.
My own dad is not the only father in my life these days. Today we’re also celebrating my husband Henry, the great provider and paternal force behind our crazy little family homestead.
