margotbianca–Handmade Batiks

June 7, 2011 · 3 comments

In my house, we don’t decorate. There is literally not enough shelf space or wall space to keep anything that doesn’t have an actual function. Thankfully, we own many useful items that are also quite beautiful. One perfect example is our margotbianca dish towels.

I came across Margot’s products on Etsy and was instantly smitten. Her colors and patterns (highlighted by her excellent photography) are so fun but classy at the same time. For Christmas, I ordered a big stack of flour sack towels and gave a set of two to everyone on our list. It was probably the best one-stop no-hassle gift shopping I’ve ever done. Each towel comes with a cute little tag telling the story of traditional handmade batiks as well as giving simple care instructions. I’m sure everyone thought we were big spenders because of the quality and attractiveness of these towels, but they were surprisingly affordable.

In the end, I had to keep two for myself. Too dang pretty!

When Margot came out with a new line of reversible girl’s pinafores, I had to buy one. For the record, I NEVER buy my kids expensive stuff, especially not expensive clothes. They wear exclusively hand me downs, gifted items, and the best of Goodwill, but I ordered this pinafore for Charlotte in a size too big, so she’ll get plenty of opportunities to wear it over (hopefully) the next year.

Lastly, I want to mention that in addition to selling products that are beautiful, high-quality, and relatively inexpensive, Margot is also having a benefit sale for the next two days to raise funds for her poor cat who ate a bunch of thread and needs an expensive surgery. Read the details and get the coupon code here.

I loooooove Margot’s batiks! I own lots for dish towels and then buy a ton more to make into Traveler bags because I have to share her beautiful designs with everyone else. Definitely took advantage of the benefit sale to help Big Kitty.
