It’s been a while since I updated you on the state of my “real” job as the sole owner, designer, and maker behind the small but mighty Red Onion Woodworks, so I wanted to take a minute to share are a few things coming up that I’m super excited about.

First and foremost, I am pleased to tell you (if you haven’t already heard) that I will be vending at the Etsy pop up in the Portland West Elm store this coming Saturday, November 16 from 1-6 pm. I’m going to have a really diverse selection of nice boards for sale including a couple super burly, thick boards that I’ve been hoarding for a while and a couple black walnut pieces that haven’t made their way into my Etsy shop yet. And if having the opportunity to chat with me isn’t enough to entice you to come down, you should know that the rest of the vendors are super awesome, too. My friend Abby (profiled on WS here) will be there with her ruggedly beautiful bags and accessories, I’ve bought several items from Oh, Little Rabbit including a rad Paul Bunyan tote bag (and I strongly suspect I might have to pick up a couple more things from them while I’m there), and back at the June meeting of the Portland Preservation Society, I happened to win this morel tea towel, which I love and use regularly, from another vendor participating in the pop up, Nell & Mary. The other four makers are new to me, but knowing the good taste of blogger and stylist, Chelsea Fuss who curated the vendors, I’m sure they’re going to be worth checking out as well.  You can find more info about the event here.

In addition to my in-person appearance, my boards are also available in Portland currently at Cyril’s at Clay Pigeon Winery. Sasha, the co-owner who’s kinda my cheese idol and a really nice person to boot, is prepared for folks to stop in and just buy a Red Onion Woodworks cutting/serving board, but you’d really be missing out if you didn’t also grab one of their signature sandwiches, a bite of dessert with a glass of wine, or a slice of artisan cheese to take to an upcoming gathering of friends or family (served on a beautiful ROW board, of course).

Red Onion Woodworks is ALSO participating in Rejuvenation‘s “Oregon Made” showcase of local makers. My boards are available at Portland’s Rejuvenation store from now until they sell out.

Lastly, Red Onion Woodworks boards are always available in my online shop. I added a few nice ones (including the ones you see in this post) last week. My plan is to kick it into high production gear this week to prepare for the West Elm event, so I probably won’t be updating the shop until I see what I have left after Saturday. My hope is to make the sum total of my inventory available online before I go away for a long Thanksgiving weekend on November 27. I’m not a big fan of Christmas shopping pre-Thanksgiving, but honestly, the selection in my online shop might be best in the next couple weeks before things get too crazy. For me, December can be a difficult time to both produce and ship a high volume of product, so I’m in a crunch to get inventory lined up early.

Aside from checking my online shop regularly, you can sort of keep track of new items by following the Red Onion Woodworks Facebook page where I try to make regular updates, or if you’re a Pinterest user, you can follow this collection where I add a few of my personal favorite boards as I list them on online.

I hate to beat you over the head with these sales pitches, but Red Onion Woodworks boards do make pretty much the universally perfect gift for any occasion (birthday, wedding, hostess, housewarming, anniversary, or of course, Christmas). Your support is very much appreciated, and I hope to see at least a few of you in Portland this weekend!
