Peach-Blueberry

Also this crust with Gravenstein apples, Brooks Italian prunes, lemon juice, turbinado sugar, a little flour, a dusting of cinnamon Barbecued on medium for about an hourWe took a family day on Monday and headed out to Harlan, Oregon. Henry had to shoe one horse for a woman who lives off-grid a million times farther out in the boonies than we do, so we decided to visit a few friends in the area and drive out for a quick splash in Klickitat Lake.
Klickitat Lake was formed by a major landslide over a hundred years ago, and now it’s just a wide shallow pool with a bunch of big stumps sticking out of the water. It was beautiful on this nice day. We have good intentions of coming back with a canoe someday. Without a boat, we just waded around the edge of the lake for a while, and then headed back to town, stopping on the way home to pick up some windfall apples (for pie and sauce) from friends.
September has really been kicking my butt. Canning, cutting boards, blogging for Gathering Together Farm, and general life maintenance has been keeping me more than busy, but it’s all good stuff, so I can’t complain. The pies help.

You know, Brenda and I have a few kayaks in the barn and you and Henry are welcome to borrow them.
That last photo of Henry is Charlotte is the best!! And I just noticed Henry’s comment above. Love it 🙂
Camille your pies get me every time. Super beautiful, and I always feel like I can ALMOST taste them.
How is the lake? Been to Harlan but never knew about the lake. Just happened to be looking at a map tonight!
